Fashion Events:

Fashion events over the years had played a dominant part in bringing new trends and technologies in fashion. As per the available secondary sources on fashion events almost 50 countries hold the fashion week every year. Unlike other global fashion hubs where most large fashion events have been launched in the last 2 decades, fashion events in some of the European countries started in 1970's.

                                    

Paris Fashion Week was launched in 1973 in France. It is among the largest fashion events held globally which hosts various fashion shows throughout the year. It is the trend setter for most of the fashion designers around the world. Milan Fashion Week in Italy includes a series of fashion shows divided under two bi-annual fashion events and two annual events. Chicago Fashion Week, Virginia Fashion Week, Fashion Week San Diego is some of the important fashion events of US.     

                                    

The fashion industry in the UK experienced a slight increase in the number of large fashion shows since the last decade. London fashion week is gaining lot of popularity in recent years.  In the recent years fashion events has also made its   mark in the emerging economies like South Africa, India, Brazil, Russia and china.  South Africa, UAE, and India are the top emerging fashion markets in the recent years.

The Indian fashion industry has gained international acclaim and recognition at several global forums. This has also helped attract a large number of international clients to the country.  Ritu Beri, an internationally renowned Indian designer, has presented her work in various international fashion weeks, including the those held in the US, London, Paris, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

The fashion industry in Singapore, Russia, and Brazil has displayed unique growth patterns in the last few years. The South African fashion industry is supported by the government as part of the economic development program. In 2006, the Johannesburg Economic Development Unit announced its goal to develop the city into an “an internationally recognized creative city”. Fashion enterprises in the country have a diversified range of designers, including established, emerging, as well as designers of different races and cultures.
